A brief history of how and why I created this membership website.

Perhaps you are wavering about joining Insiders Guide, I can understand that.
When we first decided to move to New Zealand from the UK in 2004, we needed information but at the same time were wary of the advice offered by consultants and NZ advisers.

Back then the internet wasn’t as sophisticated and there were fewer people offering advice on how to move to NZ.

We ended up paying over five thousand pounds for an adviser who didn’t deliver and left us without a visa and one of our sons facing deportation. While we eventually succeeded in achieving NZ residency, it was a brutal process that cost thousands of dollars and took many months before our family was accepted.

It was in 2007 that I came up with the idea of Insiders Guide, a website that would help people prepare for their new life in NZ. I wanted to help people who wanted to move to NZ be better informed so they could avoid the stress we experienced.

Earning money was also a factor but in all honesty, the time it’s taken and the money invested in this project has been far, far more than I expected. Because creating the content has been much harder than I could have imagined. Finding experts willing to give their secrets on video was almost impossible and the cost of producing quality content was prohibitive. Over the years there has been numerous attempts to create the membership site but it was proving too difficult.

The domain name was registered in 2009 and I expected to launch soon after, then again I am an optimist. Then nothing happened for years. But a serious health scare in 2016 prompted me to put all my efforts into creating Insiders Guide. Yes it does sound like a weird bucket list thing.

However, today there is an overwhelming amount of information, and that’s the point, it’s overwhelming. How the hell do you find the right information for you? That’s when I decided to collate the must have information, simplify the content into bite-sized chunks, so it was easy to digest and understand.

This will save you a huge amount of time and is certainly valuable information. But what makes an Insiders Guide membership truly invaluable is the information shared by employment, immigration, and housing experts, that I interviewed. All of them were motivated by a genuine desire to help new migrants. They were not paid to contribute and I do not receive a commission for recommending their services.

You definitely won’t find the information they reveal on Google.

After over 18 months of creating the content (and constantly updating it) here we are in December 2018 and the website has been launched. The initial response has been brilliant (thank goodness).

Insiders Guide has all the information you could ever need to help you in your move to NZ. I’m genuinely proud of the content and feel privileged to help other people start a new life in a wonderful country.
